Carmen entered treatment for addiction in November 2009, feeling exhausted, out of options, and disillusioned with merely existing rather than truly living. Determined to find a path to lasting recovery, she successfully completed the 12-Step program, which provided her with a renewed sense of purpose and fulfillment. Reflecting on her journey, she shares, "I believe I truly started living at the age of 36 and have since discovered a profound understanding of joy and happiness—something I had always been searching for."

Motivated by her personal transformation, Carmen returned to an inpatient treatment facility as a volunteer, gradually progressing from trainee to a registered institutional addiction counsellor. Over the past decade, she has dedicated herself to the field of addiction treatment, gaining extensive experience in individual addiction counselling, family counselling, and conducting workshops on addiction-related topics. Recognising the significant impact of addiction on families, she developed a deep passion for supporting and educating the loved ones of those struggling with substance use disorders, helping them navigate the complexities of addiction and recovery.

Carmen’s expertise extends to facilitating family interventions, providing guidance to those seeking to help their loved ones enter treatment and begin the recovery process. Her compassionate, client-centered approach ensures that individuals and families receive the necessary tools and support to foster lasting healing.

Beyond her professional work, Carmen is an avid trail and road runner and enjoys swimming as part of her active lifestyle. A devoted animal lover, she finds great joy in the companionship of her friends and family, who remain a central part of her life.
