Marisa Breytenbach_edited.jpg

Marisa started her counselling career as an addiction counsellor at a recovery centre. A quote by the late Desmond Tutu changed the trajectory of her career. He said that "we need to stop just pulling people out the river. We need to go upstream and find out where they're falling in" and she found that trauma was the reason people were "falling in".

Marisa dedicated her life to understanding all aspects of trauma and addiction, she completed a Masters degree in Pastoral counselling with a thesis written on the correlation between trauma and addiction.  Throughout this process she acquired a deep understanding on how trauma affects individuals and their journey towards recovery from not only addiction, but other struggles including co dependency and trauma bonds. Marisa aims to provide a safe and supportive environment to work through any unresolved issues and to remind you that you are not alone.
